Providing a safe environment for play and injury prevention.
The welfare and safety of children in their learning environment are perhaps some of the most important areas that need to be addressed by those responsible. At Synthatech, we believe outside play can have a tremendous influence on the proper development of a child’s imagination. The availability of play equipment may develop motion skills and create challenges for which children are given the opportunity of testing their endurance. However all these activities must occur within the bounds of safety and the risk of sustaining injury.
The prevailing risk at the playground area
The major downside of the playground where children occupy themselves in play is it’s accompanied by the risk that a child may fall and without a rubber soft fall to cushion the fall the child may sustain very serious injuries. At Synthatech we are very conscious of the fact that most of the falls that occur on playgrounds involve children that below five years of age. We are also aware that when we provide a rubber soft fall to cushion a potential fall, it can only reduce the risk of a child falling but it won’t eliminate the challenge which caused the fall in the first place.
The gravity of injuries sustained at the playground area
Children will always engage challenges they face and most of the time they will do so without seriously thinking about the consequences. The challenge is too provocative to be given a miss and as a result there’s a greater risk of falling. The most common types of injuries are head bumps but sometimes severe brain injury is sustained. Medical know how reveals that a thin layer of protective liquid lines the area between the brain and the skull providing a shock absorber against impacts. However it can do very little against severe blows against the head.
The ideal solution for protecting children at play
The most effective solution for protecting children from falls is the installation of a rubber substance that will cushion the falls. We do not only have the right material but our professional installers are extremely adept at installing this highly protective substance. They know that if the cushioning rubber material (soft fall) is to work, it must have a minimum thickness of 300mm. This depth will effectively cushion a fall from a height of 500mm measured from where children are standing on the play equipment surface. We can provide you with the perfect solution for you needs.
