These areas are requisite for children’s safety.
The soft fall required depends on the type of items placed on the playground and how to satisfy control bodies.
The type of emplacement will depend on your needs as all have their benefits and drawbacks.
The main emplacements available are movable or fixed, movable is usually mulch and sand and fixed is rubber and artificial lawn.
Movable emplacements have high upkeep as the material constantly moves and can never be cleaned enough as the material is debris prone and can even hide needles and glass. Used correctly it can be an option but it is not cost effective in the long run.
Fixed materials with soft fall work well in many situations and offer good cost benefit ratios. It is also incredibly low maintenance.
Synthetic grass has a great many options in terms of colour and properties, the new natural feel is great and can be tailor made to suit most needs.
Rubber also comes in a variety of colours and textures and is highly durable, non slip and has a variety of uses. It does get very hot in direct sun but can be cooled as easily as watering it.
If you are sporting an oldish rubber surface there are methods of incorporating a new surface with the old one as a foundation. See Playground Maintenance for more information, or contact us.
